On May 10th – 11th, CPCR executive director Wassana Kaonoparat met with local child protection officers from Ubonratchathani Province. Since 2014, CPCR has worked with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and UNICEF to conduct child protection training programs for state officers across 10 provinces. This meeting is the third hosted in Ubonratchathani Province. Nikhon Suksai, Vice Governor of Ubonratchathani Province, opened the meeting and welcomed all state officers to the event. The state officers reviewed their own performance and shared their experiences. It shows that many state officers are now more confident in supporting child victims in their respective areas. They understand how to provide assistance and work with local officers. Greater knowledge and awareness will continue to benefit children at risk in local areas.
On May 23rd – 24th, CPCR executive director Wassana Kaonoparat met with more child protection officers in Trang Province. This is the third project meeting in this province as well. At first, there was no child protection committee at the subdistrict level in this level. Now, there are eight state officers dedicated to addressing this issue in their province. They’re also trained to assist children who are victim of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. These state officers provide a consultation program for parents as well. They serve as mediators for children and parents who need assistance.
